3 Pieces of News That Will Interest Any Utahn

1. Recent political activity, especially here in Utah, has been making national attention. Lot of questions have been flying around the internet about the recent convention failure of Bob Bennett to win his party's nomination. Questions like "Are the tea-partiers this strong?" and "The convention system in Utah disenfranchises regular voters. Why does Utah still use it?" I've already given my answer here. Here is an excerpt from one of the more popular articles on the subject published in USAToday.com:

"WASHINGTON — The weekend ouster of Sen. Bob Bennett, a three-term Utah Republican, represents a triumph for the "Tea Party" movement and a warning for other incumbents facing ideological litmus tests this month.

Bennett, 76, failed to make the cut Saturday at a Republican Party convention dominated by Tea Party activists and fiscal conservatives concerned about the growth of government. Instead, the 3,500 delegates sent businessman Mike Lee, 38, and attorney Tim Bridgewater, 49, to a June 22 primary. Neither has held elective office.

2. Facebook privacy has gone by the wayside in the last five months. It started with Facebook reversing its privacy policy back in December and never looked back. This new like button makes your private info public when you "like" something. That is plain ridiculous when most of Facebook's members joined under it's previous privacy policies. Google Buzz doesn't look that bad anymore.

3. The Utah Governor's race has been headline news in Utah for the last few months. This Rasmussen poll gives some compare and contrast on how Utah measures up to the rest of the nation on major issues and how that is one indicator of what the likely outcome of the gubernatorial race will be. Some interesting stuff.
